Tides and Tomes

The sea keeps secrets, but Westfall keeps better ones still. Today I followed a trail of whispers from Moonbrook’s rally to the cold light of the lighthouse and back again. Gryan sent me to listen and learn, and what I returned with was more than gossip: a shaman named Thoralius who might peel back the shadows, a trance incense that will take me into the Deadmines, and a clutch of clues that led me to an old captain’s chest. The chest was musty and stubborn, but its papers put a crooked map in my hands and a grin on my face.

As a hunter, I prefer clear shots to riddles, yet there’s satisfaction in solving a puzzle on the salt-sprayed cliffs. I cleared the coast of murlocs and set the lighthouse’s flame right again — the keeper’s ghost can sleep easier tonight. My arrows found their marks and my boots found the road east; by the time the sun dropped I had walked into Stormwind and learned the art of Herbalism. Hah—levels come when you push yourself. I celebrated quietly when I rang into level 17, feeling sharper and more ready for what’s next.

Tomorrow I’ll steal back toward the Deadmines and trust the incense to show me what the spirits remember. Until then I’ll tend my bow, my new herbs, and the map to Captain Sanders’ final secret.
